Beige & Yellow Silk Handloom Banarasi Stole
A handwoven Banarasi stole in soft beige and yellow, drawn over with densely packed Tanchoi motif work that runs from edge to edge. The motif rhythm sits cleanly within the satin-faced ground, and the border-edges close the composition without breaking the field. The motifs, anchal and border are all woven in zari — the pattern extends to the selvedge so the drape reads as one continuous piece. Handwoven in Varanasi on a traditional pit loom.
A Tanchoi composition is densely packed at the loom but reads as a continuous, satin-faced field. Because the pattern is carried entirely by warp and weft — no extra weft floats behind the body — the reverse is almost as clean as the front, and the drape lies smoothly without weight.
Styling Note
Drape the stole loose across the shoulders, or knotted long at the front. It pairs with antique-gold studs or a single jhumka, and sits well over a tonal kurta in ivory, dove grey or champagne silk.

Caring for Your Handloom
A handloom stole is not just worn — it is preserved, rested, and cared for over time.
After wearing, allow the stole to settle gently. Dry clean only, so the weave, colour, and zari remain protected. When storing, wrap it in a soft muslin cloth and keep it in a dry place. Zari is delicate and responds to changes in weather; the muslin helps the textile breathe while keeping the weave stable.
Avoid spraying perfume directly onto the stole, as fragrance and alcohol can affect the fabric and zari. Every few months, open it out and let it air naturally for a while — a small ritual that allows the weave to breathe and helps the stole stay beautiful for years.
