A beige Banarsi saree in sheer kora organza, kept plain across the body and then bursting into large jamdani-style roses along the lower edge and pallu — full blooms in coral, red, yellow and lilac with green leaves, woven with a hand-drawn, painterly quality.
The hem is finished with a gold zari band and fine pinstripes, edged in an onion-pink selvedge; the anchal repeats the rose garden on a larger scale over the sheer ground.
Light, translucent and unusually fresh — the flowers sit like a garland along the fall of the saree.
Styling Note
Drape in a Nivi with the pleats set so the roses cluster at the hem, and let the pallu fall open to show the garden. Wear over a beige or blush petticoat; minimal gold jewellery and a coral, leaf-green or onion-pink blouse all work.
Caring for Your Handloom
A handloom saree is not just worn — it is preserved, rested, and cared for over time.
After wearing, allow the saree to settle gently. Dry clean only, so the weave, colour, and zari remain protected. When storing, wrap it in a soft muslin cloth and keep it in a dry place. Zari is delicate and responds to changes in weather; the muslin helps the textile breathe while keeping the weave stable.
Avoid spraying perfume directly onto the saree, as fragrance and alcohol can affect the fabric and zari. Every few months, open it out and let it air naturally for a while — a small ritual that allows the weave to breathe and helps the saree stay beautiful for years.
