A bright lemon Banarasi saree, drawn over with Virsa motifs woven thread-by-thread across the ground. The motifs, anchal and border are all woven in zari — the border framing the drape on every edge and the anchal carrying the same Virsa repeat in a fuller arrangement. Handwoven in Varanasi on a traditional pit loom.
Virsa motifs sit between the classical and the contemporary in the Banarasi vocabulary, and woven in Kadhua they ask the weaver to lift each motif on its own weft. The Katan-silk-by-cotton blend gives the cloth a slightly lighter hand than pure Katan, but the loom hours and placement discipline are the same — which is exactly what marks the textile as a luxury weave.
Styling Note
A Nivi drape with the anchal long lets the lemon ground breathe. Pair with antique-gold or chand bali earrings and a contrasting deep-green, navy or oxblood raw-silk blouse.

Caring for Your Handloom
A handloom saree is not just worn — it is preserved, rested, and cared for over time.
After wearing, allow the saree to settle gently. Dry clean only, so the weave, colour, and zari remain protected. When storing, wrap it in a soft muslin cloth and keep it in a dry place. Zari is delicate and responds to changes in weather; the muslin helps the textile breathe while keeping the weave stable.
Avoid spraying perfume directly onto the saree, as fragrance and alcohol can affect the fabric and zari. Every few months, open it out and let it air naturally for a while — a small ritual that allows the weave to breathe and helps the saree stay beautiful for years.
