A handwoven Banarasi Katan silk saree in magenta, drawn over with thread-by-thread Kadhua motifs placed evenly across the body. The motifs, anchal and border are all woven in zari — the border holds a continuous worked line and the anchal carries the same motif vocabulary in a closer arrangement at the edge. Handwoven in Varanasi on a traditional pit loom.
Magenta on Katan silk gives Banarasi a jewel-toned register, and Kadhua earns it — every motif is built into the cloth thread by thread, the loom only releasing as much fabric as the weft floats allow. That weeks-long discipline is what places the textile in the luxury register; the placement holds, the zari sits flush, and no two pieces emerge identical from the loom.
Styling Note
Drapes beautifully Nivi-style with the anchal pleated soft over the shoulder. Pair with classic gold or kundan, and an ivory, deep-rose or oxblood raw-silk blouse to anchor the saturated ground.

Caring for Your Handloom
A handloom saree is not just worn — it is preserved, rested, and cared for over time.
After wearing, allow the saree to settle gently. Dry clean only, so the weave, colour, and zari remain protected. When storing, wrap it in a soft muslin cloth and keep it in a dry place. Zari is delicate and responds to changes in weather; the muslin helps the textile breathe while keeping the weave stable.
Avoid spraying perfume directly onto the saree, as fragrance and alcohol can affect the fabric and zari. Every few months, open it out and let it air naturally for a while — a small ritual that allows the weave to breathe and helps the saree stay beautiful for years.
