A handwoven Banarasi Chinya silk saree in a soft multicolor palette, drawn over with thread-by-thread Kadhua motifs across the body. The motifs, anchal and border are all woven in zari — an intricate Banarasi border frames the drape, with an anchor motif in the aanchal and a Kuniya corner-motif that closes the pallu cleanly. Handwoven in Varanasi on a traditional pit loom.
Chinya silk has its own particular hand — a slightly lighter weight than Katan, with a soft fall that drapes easily across the body. The Kadhua tradition layered with Kuniya is what makes a multicolor Banarasi possible — each colour shift in the motifs is its own weft, placed by hand. The luxury of the piece is in the polyphony of colour and craft running in tandem.
Styling Note
Drapes beautifully Nivi-style with the pallu fanned wide so the multicolor work catches the light. Pair with classic gold or kundan; a contrast deep-emerald, ivory, or pink blouse anchors the palette.

Caring for Your Handloom
A handloom saree is not just worn — it is preserved, rested, and cared for over time.
After wearing, allow the saree to settle gently. Dry clean only, so the weave, colour, and zari remain protected. When storing, wrap it in a soft muslin cloth and keep it in a dry place. Zari is delicate and responds to changes in weather; the muslin helps the textile breathe while keeping the weave stable.
Avoid spraying perfume directly onto the saree, as fragrance and alcohol can affect the fabric and zari. Every few months, open it out and let it air naturally for a while — a small ritual that allows the weave to breathe and helps the saree stay beautiful for years.
