Purple Silk Handloom Banarasi Stole
A handwoven Banarasi Katan silk stole in deep purple, woven in the satin-faced Tanchoi tradition. The motifs, anchal and border are all woven in zari, with a refined Tanchoi composition running across the length of the stole. Handwoven in Varanasi on a traditional pit loom.
Tanchoi is celebrated for its smooth-faced ground and densely packed motif work — the pattern carried entirely by warp and weft, no extra weft floats. The back of a true Tanchoi reads almost as clean as the front. The luxury of a Banarasi stole is the same loom hour density compressed onto a shorter length.
Styling Note
Wears beautifully draped over a contrast saree, an evening kurta, or thrown elegantly over the shoulders with a dress. Pair with delicate kundan or pearl drops to keep the saree's own work the focus.

Caring for Your Handloom
A handloom stole is not just worn — it is preserved, rested, and cared for over time.
After wearing, allow the stole to settle gently. Dry clean only, so the weave, colour, and zari remain protected. When storing, wrap it in a soft muslin cloth and keep it in a dry place. Zari is delicate and responds to changes in weather; the muslin helps the textile breathe while keeping the weave stable.
Avoid spraying perfume directly onto the stole, as fragrance and alcohol can affect the fabric and zari. Every few months, open it out and let it air naturally for a while — a small ritual that allows the weave to breathe and helps the stole stay beautiful for years.
