A handwoven Banarasi Tissue silk saree in pink with a sky-blue Kadiyal border, drawn over with meenakari motifs in coloured silk and zari. The motifs, anchal and border are all woven in zari — the Kadiyal border sets a clean colour change at the selvedge, and the meena work enamels each motif in jewel-like detail. Handwoven in Varanasi on a traditional pit loom.
This drape stacks three Banarasi disciplines on one loom: Kadhua for the motif placement, Meenadar for the coloured-silk enamelling alongside the gold, and Kadiyal for the contrast border woven into the body without a seam. None of these can be hurried — together they are among the slowest weaves the Banaras pit loom carries, and that depth of layered skill is what makes the textile a luxury.
Styling Note
Drapes beautifully Nivi-style with the pallu pleated wide so the Kadiyal contrast reads. Pair with polki or kundan and a contrast sky-blue or ivory raw-silk blouse to play with the colour join.

Caring for Your Handloom
A handloom saree is not just worn — it is preserved, rested, and cared for over time.
After wearing, allow the saree to settle gently. Dry clean only, so the weave, colour, and zari remain protected. When storing, wrap it in a soft muslin cloth and keep it in a dry place. Zari is delicate and responds to changes in weather; the muslin helps the textile breathe while keeping the weave stable.
Avoid spraying perfume directly onto the saree, as fragrance and alcohol can affect the fabric and zari. Every few months, open it out and let it air naturally for a while — a small ritual that allows the weave to breathe and helps the saree stay beautiful for years.
