A handwoven Banarasi Kora silk saree in deep red, with thread-by-thread Kadhua motifs drawn across the body. The motifs, anchal and border are all woven in zari — the sheer Kora ground holds the gold work close, with the resham warmth lifting each motif. Handwoven in Varanasi on a traditional pit loom.
Red is the most exacting ground a Banarasi loom is asked to carry — every placement of gold has to land precisely, or the depth of the colour swallows the work. The Kadhua tradition is the answer to that demand: motifs built thread by thread, each weft considered. That deliberate placement is the luxury of the piece.
Styling Note
Drape Nivi or Bengali-style with the pallu fanned wide so the motif scatter reads in the light. Pair with classic gold or kundan and an ivory, deep-maroon or contrast green blouse.

Caring for Your Handloom
A handloom saree is not just worn — it is preserved, rested, and cared for over time.
After wearing, allow the saree to settle gently. Dry clean only, so the weave, colour, and zari remain protected. When storing, wrap it in a soft muslin cloth and keep it in a dry place. Zari is delicate and responds to changes in weather; the muslin helps the textile breathe while keeping the weave stable.
Avoid spraying perfume directly onto the saree, as fragrance and alcohol can affect the fabric and zari. Every few months, open it out and let it air naturally for a while — a small ritual that allows the weave to breathe and helps the saree stay beautiful for years.
