Lilac Grey Dupatta & Pista Green Kurta Munga Silk Handloom Banarasi Suit Set
A Banarasi suit set in pista green and lilac grey, with the kurta length in pista green Munga silk and the dupatta in lilac grey, both worked in Kadhua. The motifs are placed deliberately on both lengths, with the dupatta carrying a denser composition along the body. The motifs, anchal and border are all woven in zari — set into the body thread by thread rather than added on. Handwoven in Varanasi on a traditional pit loom.
A Kadhua composition like this is not embroidered after; every motif is built into the weave thread by thread. That kind of patience is what gives Banarasi its weight and its glow — the textile is a luxury precisely because the weaving time cannot be hurried, and the intricacy means no two pieces emerge identical from the loom.
Styling Note
Tailor into a straight kurta with churidars or a flared palazzo, and drape the dupatta long off one shoulder. Pair with antique-gold or polki studs; the pista and lilac palette also carries kundan beautifully.

Caring for Your Handloom
A handloom suit set is not just worn — it is preserved, rested, and cared for over time.
After wearing, allow the suit set to settle gently. Dry clean only, so the weave, colour, and zari remain protected. When storing, wrap it in a soft muslin cloth and keep it in a dry place. Zari is delicate and responds to changes in weather; the muslin helps the textile breathe while keeping the weave stable.
Avoid spraying perfume directly onto the suit set, as fragrance and alcohol can affect the fabric and zari. Every few months, open it out and let it air naturally for a while — a small ritual that allows the weave to breathe and helps the suit set stay beautiful for years.
