A handwoven Tissue-by-silk Banarasi saree in lavender with an ivory Kadiyal border, drawn over with meenakari motifs in coloured silk and zari. The motifs, anchal and border are all woven in zari, the meenadar work threaded through the Kadhua and the Kadiyal join setting the ivory border cleanly against the lavender field. Handwoven in Varanasi on a traditional pit loom.
This drape stacks three Banarasi disciplines on one loom: Kadhua, where every motif is built thread by thread; Meenadar, where coloured silk is threaded inside each motif to paint it; and Kadiyal, where the border runs on a separate warp colour with a clean join along the selvedge. None of these can be hurried — together they are the slowest kind of Banarasi work.
Styling Note
Drapes beautifully in a Nivi or Bengali style. Pair with polki or antique-gold jewellery and an ivory or champagne raw-silk blouse to keep the tissue ground forward.

Caring for Your Handloom
A handloom saree is not just worn — it is preserved, rested, and cared for over time.
After wearing, allow the saree to settle gently. Dry clean only, so the weave, colour, and zari remain protected. When storing, wrap it in a soft muslin cloth and keep it in a dry place. Zari is delicate and responds to changes in weather; the muslin helps the textile breathe while keeping the weave stable.
Avoid spraying perfume directly onto the saree, as fragrance and alcohol can affect the fabric and zari. Every few months, open it out and let it air naturally for a while — a small ritual that allows the weave to breathe and helps the saree stay beautiful for years.
