A handwoven Katan silk Banarasi saree in pistachio green, carrying meenakari motifs in coloured silk and zari across the body, set against a dense Tanchoi ground. The motifs, anchal and border are all woven in zari, with the Meenadar enamel layered alongside the gold to give the body its jewel-bright cast. Handwoven in Varanasi on a traditional pit loom.
Tanchoi gives the drape its dense satin floor; Meenadar lays coloured silk alongside the gold thread to enamel the motifs. Together they are among the most demanding Banarasi compositions to weave — every coloured weft has to be set in sequence so the back of the textile stays clean.
Styling Note
A Nivi drape carries the Meenadar field best; the motif colours catch movement as the pleats fall. Style with antique-gold jhumkis or kundan studs. A tonal pista silk blouse, or a contrast aubergine, brings the green ground forward.

Caring for Your Handloom
A handloom saree is not just worn — it is preserved, rested, and cared for over time.
After wearing, allow the saree to settle gently. Dry clean only, so the weave, colour, and zari remain protected. When storing, wrap it in a soft muslin cloth and keep it in a dry place. Zari is delicate and responds to changes in weather; the muslin helps the textile breathe while keeping the weave stable.
Avoid spraying perfume directly onto the saree, as fragrance and alcohol can affect the fabric and zari. Every few months, open it out and let it air naturally for a while — a small ritual that allows the weave to breathe and helps the saree stay beautiful for years.
