A handwoven pure Katan silk Banarasi saree in rose pink, with thread-by-thread Kadhua motifs drawn over the body and a soft woven check setting the visual rhythm of the ground. The motifs, anchal and border are all woven in zari, the gold catching cleanly against the rose ground. Handwoven in Varanasi on a traditional pit loom.
A woven check sits at the very dressing of the loom — the warp and weft are colour-matched in advance so the grid emerges as the fabric is built. Layering Kadhua motifs on a check ground requires twice the planning, and that double discipline is part of what makes Banarasi a luxury textile.
Styling Note
A Nivi drape lets the check pattern unfold along the body. Style with chand bali or jhumkis in antique gold, and a tonal rose silk blouse — or a contrast ivory raw-silk blouse — to bring out the warmth of the ground.

Caring for Your Handloom
A handloom saree is not just worn — it is preserved, rested, and cared for over time.
After wearing, allow the saree to settle gently. Dry clean only, so the weave, colour, and zari remain protected. When storing, wrap it in a soft muslin cloth and keep it in a dry place. Zari is delicate and responds to changes in weather; the muslin helps the textile breathe while keeping the weave stable.
Avoid spraying perfume directly onto the saree, as fragrance and alcohol can affect the fabric and zari. Every few months, open it out and let it air naturally for a while — a small ritual that allows the weave to breathe and helps the saree stay beautiful for years.
