A handwoven Banarasi Katan silk saree in rouge pink, drawn over with Guldasta bouquet motifs placed thread by thread across the body — each bouquet a small cluster of leaf and bloom in gold zari. The motifs, anchal and border are all woven in zari — an intricate Banarasi border frames the drape, and the anchal closes with an anchor motif. Handwoven in Varanasi on a traditional pit loom.
A Guldasta laid out across silk like this is not stitched on after — every flower and stem is built into the cloth thread by thread on the loom in Kadhua. That is what gives Banarasi its weight and its glow: the time it asks for cannot be hurried, and the patience of the weaver is what survives in the finished drape.
Styling Note
Drapes beautifully Nivi-style with the pallu pleated narrow so the Guldasta read across the body. Pair with antique-gold or polki, a tonal rose or ivory raw-silk blouse, and chand bali earrings to mirror the bouquet placement.

Caring for Your Handloom
A handloom saree is not just worn — it is preserved, rested, and cared for over time.
After wearing, allow the saree to settle gently. Dry clean only, so the weave, colour, and zari remain protected. When storing, wrap it in a soft muslin cloth and keep it in a dry place. Zari is delicate and responds to changes in weather; the muslin helps the textile breathe while keeping the weave stable.
Avoid spraying perfume directly onto the saree, as fragrance and alcohol can affect the fabric and zari. Every few months, open it out and let it air naturally for a while — a small ritual that allows the weave to breathe and helps the saree stay beautiful for years.
