A handwoven Banarsi silk saree in deep magenta, worn plain across the body so the colour carries the drape. The saree is framed on both edges by a gold and silver zari border woven in fine diagonal stripes and a diamond jaal.
The pallu deepens into a wider band of the same diagonal zari, giving the piece its ceremonial weight while the unadorned field keeps it versatile. A quietly luxurious drape where the border does the storytelling.
Styling Note
A Nivi drape keeps the diagonal repeat legible; a Gujarati drape turns the anchal outward and brings the banded border across the front. Kundan and polki both hold their own against rani pink, and plain gold reads cleanly if the jewellery is kept minimal. For the blouse, a gold tissue or antique-gold brocade picks up the zari, while a deep bottle green makes the pink read stronger.
Caring for Your Handloom
A handloom saree is not just worn — it is preserved, rested, and cared for over time.
After wearing, allow the saree to settle gently. Dry clean only, so the weave, colour, and zari remain protected. When storing, wrap it in a soft muslin cloth and keep it in a dry place. Zari is delicate and responds to changes in weather; the muslin helps the textile breathe while keeping the weave stable.
Avoid spraying perfume directly onto the saree, as fragrance and alcohol can affect the fabric and zari. Every few months, open it out and let it air naturally for a while — a small ritual that allows the weave to breathe and helps the saree stay beautiful for years.
