A baby-pink Banarasi saree in Tissue silk with a contrasting baby-purple Kadiyal border, drawn over with Meenadar motifs in coloured silk and zari. The motifs, anchal and border are all woven in zari — the Kadiyal border setting a clear colour change at the edges and the anchal carrying the Meenadar in a fuller field. Handwoven in Varanasi on a traditional pit loom.
Tissue silk gives the saree its fine sheen, and Kadiyal — two ground colours joined at the selvedge by interlocked weft — is what gives it its layered colour reading. Add Meenadar enamelling and the cloth carries three Banarasi techniques in one drape, each one slow on its own and slower still in combination.
Styling Note
A Nivi drape lets the soft colour palette carry. Pair with kundan or polki jewellery and a contrasting baby-purple or ivory raw-silk blouse to lift the Kadiyal play.

Caring for Your Handloom
A handloom saree is not just worn — it is preserved, rested, and cared for over time.
After wearing, allow the saree to settle gently. Dry clean only, so the weave, colour, and zari remain protected. When storing, wrap it in a soft muslin cloth and keep it in a dry place. Zari is delicate and responds to changes in weather; the muslin helps the textile breathe while keeping the weave stable.
Avoid spraying perfume directly onto the saree, as fragrance and alcohol can affect the fabric and zari. Every few months, open it out and let it air naturally for a while — a small ritual that allows the weave to breathe and helps the saree stay beautiful for years.
