A dusty lilac Banarsi silk saree scattered with delicate floral butis in gold and silver zari, set in an even, alternating grid across the body. The two-tone butis catch the light against the muted mauve ground for a restrained, elegant effect.
A flowering zari vine frames the borders, and the pallu repeats the buti placement above a gold zari band. Handwoven in Varanasi on a traditional pit loom.
Styling Note
A Nivi drape with a neat shoulder fall suits the quiet formality of this piece; the Gujarati drape brings the anchal band to the front if you prefer the gold forward. Rose gold and polki are natural companions to the mauve; pearls cool it down. Blouse in the same dusty rose keeps it seamless, while deep wine or antique gold adds weight.
Caring for Your Handloom
A handloom saree is not just worn — it is preserved, rested, and cared for over time.
After wearing, allow the saree to settle gently. Dry clean only, so the weave, colour, and zari remain protected. When storing, wrap it in a soft muslin cloth and keep it in a dry place. Zari is delicate and responds to changes in weather; the muslin helps the textile breathe while keeping the weave stable.
Avoid spraying perfume directly onto the saree, as fragrance and alcohol can affect the fabric and zari. Every few months, open it out and let it air naturally for a while — a small ritual that allows the weave to breathe and helps the saree stay beautiful for years.
