A handwoven Banarasi Satin silk saree in green, the satin face carrying thread-by-thread Kadhua motifs in zari across the drape and a complementary gold register through the border. The motifs, anchal and border are all woven in zari, holding the composition together across the body and into the anchal. Handwoven in Varanasi on a traditional pit loom.
A satin base lends Banarasi a particular low-gloss luxury — the cloth catches light evenly, and the Kadhua motifs sit on it with a small lift. The motifs themselves are woven discretely, never embroidered or stamped on after, which is why the saree reads as a single, considered surface.
Styling Note
Drape in a Nivi style with the pallu pinned at the shoulder to let the green satin run uninterrupted, or in a Lehenga drape for a more sculptural fall. Pair with antique-gold or temple jewellery — jhumkas, a chand-bali, a slim haar. A tonal green or contrasting old-gold blouse finishes the drape.

Caring for Your Handloom
A handloom saree is not just worn — it is preserved, rested, and cared for over time.
After wearing, allow the saree to settle gently. Dry clean only, so the weave, colour, and zari remain protected. When storing, wrap it in a soft muslin cloth and keep it in a dry place. Zari is delicate and responds to changes in weather; the muslin helps the textile breathe while keeping the weave stable.
Avoid spraying perfume directly onto the saree, as fragrance and alcohol can affect the fabric and zari. Every few months, open it out and let it air naturally for a while — a small ritual that allows the weave to breathe and helps the saree stay beautiful for years.
