Peacock Blue Kadhua Pure Silk Handloom Banarsi Fabric Thaan
A Banarasi fabric thaan in deep peacock blue, drawn over with thread-by-thread Kadhua motifs spaced cleanly across the field. The motifs, anchal and border are all woven in zari — the piece sold by the metre, the motif placement consistent end to end. Handwoven in Varanasi on a traditional pit loom.
A Kadhua thaan asks for the same loom hours as a saree — every butti is woven on its own weft, never embroidered on later, which means the back of the cloth carries no floats and the front reads cleanly however the piece is cut. That weaving discipline is what places the textile in the luxury register, by the metre as much as by the drape.
Styling Note
Cut into a blouse, kurta, panelled lehenga or sherwani panel — the Katan silk takes a structured line, and the placement of motifs lifts even the simplest silhouette. Pair finished pieces with gold or polki jewellery.

Caring for Your Handloom
A handloom fabric is not just worn — it is preserved, rested, and cared for over time.
After wearing, allow the fabric to settle gently. Dry clean only, so the weave, colour, and zari remain protected. When storing, wrap it in a soft muslin cloth and keep it in a dry place. Zari is delicate and responds to changes in weather; the muslin helps the textile breathe while keeping the weave stable.
Avoid spraying perfume directly onto the fabric, as fragrance and alcohol can affect the fabric and zari. Every few months, open it out and let it air naturally for a while — a small ritual that allows the weave to breathe and helps the fabric stay beautiful for years.
