Purple Kadhua Pure Silk Handloom Banarasi Fabric Thaan
A handwoven Banarasi Katan silk thaan in purple, the running length carrying thread-by-thread Kadhua motifs evenly placed across the cloth. The motifs, anchal and border are all woven in zari — the placement consistent metre by metre, the fabric ready for the tailor's commission. Handwoven in Varanasi on a traditional pit loom.
Even on a running length, Kadhua does not relax — each motif is built into the cloth on its own discrete weft, and the back of the textile carries no shortcuts. The luxury of Banarasi by the metre is that the same loom hours go into the cloth whether it leaves the workshop as a saree, a blouse panel or a structured kurta.
Styling Note
Tailor as a fitted blouse, a sherwani panel, a panelled lehenga or a structured kurta. Purple holds well against ivory, antique gold and deep wine tones; style the finished garment with antique gold, polki or kundan jewellery.

Caring for Your Handloom
A handloom fabric is not just worn — it is preserved, rested, and cared for over time.
After wearing, allow the fabric to settle gently. Dry clean only, so the weave, colour, and zari remain protected. When storing, wrap it in a soft muslin cloth and keep it in a dry place. Zari is delicate and responds to changes in weather; the muslin helps the textile breathe while keeping the weave stable.
Avoid spraying perfume directly onto the fabric, as fragrance and alcohol can affect the fabric and zari. Every few months, open it out and let it air naturally for a while — a small ritual that allows the weave to breathe and helps the fabric stay beautiful for years.
