White Floral Motif Silk By Cotton Handloom Fabric Thaan
A Banarasi fabric thaan in white, drawn over with floral motifs woven thread-by-thread across the field. The motifs, anchal and border are all woven in zari — the piece sold by the metre, the floral placement carried consistently end to end. Handwoven in Varanasi on a traditional pit loom.
The Katan-silk-by-cotton blend gives the thaan a softer hand without giving up the loom discipline — every floral motif is lifted on its own weft in Kadhua, never embroidered on later. That is the same patience a saree weaver brings to a drape, applied here to a length of cloth waiting for its commission.
Styling Note
Cut into a structured kurta, a panelled lehenga, a sherwani panel or a fitted jacket — the silk-by-cotton blend takes a clean line and breathes more easily than pure Katan. Pair finished pieces with antique-gold or kundan jewellery.

Caring for Your Handloom
A handloom fabric is not just worn — it is preserved, rested, and cared for over time.
After wearing, allow the fabric to settle gently. Dry clean only, so the weave, colour, and zari remain protected. When storing, wrap it in a soft muslin cloth and keep it in a dry place. Zari is delicate and responds to changes in weather; the muslin helps the textile breathe while keeping the weave stable.
Avoid spraying perfume directly onto the fabric, as fragrance and alcohol can affect the fabric and zari. Every few months, open it out and let it air naturally for a while — a small ritual that allows the weave to breathe and helps the fabric stay beautiful for years.
