A handwoven pure Tussar silk Banarasi saree in yellow, with guldasta motifs — small woven bouquets — drawn over the body thread by thread. The motifs, anchal and border are all woven in zari — an intricate Banarasi border frames the drape and the anchal carries an anchor motif in keeping with the field. Handwoven in Varanasi on a traditional pit loom.
Tussar lends the drape its dry, textured hand — a Banarasi cousin to mulberry silk that holds zari differently, with more matte than gloss. Each Kadhua bouquet sits on this textured ground with its own weft, the placement worked out on the loom before a single thread is thrown.
Styling Note
A Nivi drape suits the Tussar weight; the pallu falls open across the shoulder without bunching. Style with temple jewellery in old gold for a quieter pairing, or chand bali for occasion. A tonal mustard or deep brown raw-silk blouse anchors the yellow ground.

Caring for Your Handloom
A handloom saree is not just worn — it is preserved, rested, and cared for over time.
After wearing, allow the saree to settle gently. Dry clean only, so the weave, colour, and zari remain protected. When storing, wrap it in a soft muslin cloth and keep it in a dry place. Zari is delicate and responds to changes in weather; the muslin helps the textile breathe while keeping the weave stable.
Avoid spraying perfume directly onto the saree, as fragrance and alcohol can affect the fabric and zari. Every few months, open it out and let it air naturally for a while — a small ritual that allows the weave to breathe and helps the saree stay beautiful for years.
