A handwoven Satin silk Banarasi saree in yellow with a rust pallu, thread-by-thread Kadhua motifs drawn over the body and the anchal contrasting in deep rust. The motifs, anchal and border are all woven in zari, the gold sitting warm against the two-tone ground. Handwoven in Varanasi on a traditional pit loom.
A two-tone Banarasi means two warps — or one warp dressed in two grounds — and the precision required to keep the body, border and pallu reading as a coherent piece is what makes these compositions slow. Every Kadhua butti has its own weft, every shift of colour set at the loom in advance.
Styling Note
A Nivi drape spreads the rust pallu open across the shoulder, balancing the yellow of the body. Style with antique-gold jhumkis or temple jewellery — the warm metal pairs with both tones. Choose a tonal yellow silk blouse to anchor the body, or a rust blouse to echo the pallu.

Caring for Your Handloom
A handloom saree is not just worn — it is preserved, rested, and cared for over time.
After wearing, allow the saree to settle gently. Dry clean only, so the weave, colour, and zari remain protected. When storing, wrap it in a soft muslin cloth and keep it in a dry place. Zari is delicate and responds to changes in weather; the muslin helps the textile breathe while keeping the weave stable.
Avoid spraying perfume directly onto the saree, as fragrance and alcohol can affect the fabric and zari. Every few months, open it out and let it air naturally for a while — a small ritual that allows the weave to breathe and helps the saree stay beautiful for years.
