A baby pink Banarasi saree in pure Katan silk, drawn over with Tanchoi Adda meenakari — densely packed motifs in coloured silk and zari worked into the satin ground. The motifs, anchal and border are all woven in zari, with the meena lighting the buttis from inside the weave. Handwoven in Varanasi on a traditional pit loom.
A Tanchoi is one of the most demanding setups on a Banarasi pit loom. The pattern is held in the structure itself, and with Meenadar layered in, the weaver works two compositions at once — silk colour and zari — across the same field. The result is a cloth that reads in two materials simultaneously.
Styling Note
Drape Nivi for a clean satin sweep, or Bengali for a softer pallu. Pair with polki or kundan; baby pink reads beautifully under warm gold. A deeper rose, peach or ivory raw silk blouse holds the palette.

Caring for Your Handloom
A handloom saree is not just worn — it is preserved, rested, and cared for over time.
After wearing, allow the saree to settle gently. Dry clean only, so the weave, colour, and zari remain protected. When storing, wrap it in a soft muslin cloth and keep it in a dry place. Zari is delicate and responds to changes in weather; the muslin helps the textile breathe while keeping the weave stable.
Avoid spraying perfume directly onto the saree, as fragrance and alcohol can affect the fabric and zari. Every few months, open it out and let it air naturally for a while — a small ritual that allows the weave to breathe and helps the saree stay beautiful for years.
