A handwoven Banarasi Pure Katan Silk saree in mustard yellow, with Kairy paisley motifs that turn in and out across the field, woven thread by thread. The motifs, anchal and border are all woven in zari — the border carries a continuous pattern that frames the drape on every edge. Handwoven in Varanasi on a traditional pit loom.
The intricacy of Kadhua is not a flourish; it is the entire grammar of the cloth. Every butti is constructed on the loom rather than added to it, which means the weaver has to plan motif placement long before the first pick. The patience this asks of the loom — and the loomsman — is what turns a Banarasi from a length of silk into a textile worth keeping for a long time.
Styling Note
A Nivi drape carries this composition best — the pallu placed long over the shoulder so the border reads in full down the front. Pair with antique gold or kundan jewellery to echo the zari, and a tonal yellow raw silk or contrast maroon tissue blouse to keep the focus on the weave.

Caring for Your Handloom
A handloom saree is not just worn — it is preserved, rested, and cared for over time.
After wearing, allow the saree to settle gently. Dry clean only, so the weave, colour, and zari remain protected. When storing, wrap it in a soft muslin cloth and keep it in a dry place. Zari is delicate and responds to changes in weather; the muslin helps the textile breathe while keeping the weave stable.
Avoid spraying perfume directly onto the saree, as fragrance and alcohol can affect the fabric and zari. Every few months, open it out and let it air naturally for a while — a small ritual that allows the weave to breathe and helps the saree stay beautiful for years.
