A handwoven Banarasi Pure Katan Silk saree in rose pink, with Kadhua butti enamelled in Meenadar — each motif outlined in coloured silk alongside zari. The motifs, anchal and border are all woven in zari — the border carries a continuous pattern that frames the drape on every edge. Handwoven in Varanasi on a traditional pit loom.
A Meenadar weave layers coloured resham over the zari motif, working each colour change pick by pick on the loom. That layered approach is what gives Meenadar its jewel-like quality — the motifs read as enamelled rather than printed, and the colour stays in the cloth as a part of the weave rather than sitting on its surface.
Styling Note
A Nivi drape carries this composition best — the pallu placed long over the shoulder so the border reads in full down the front. Pair with polki, kundan or antique gold jewellery to echo the zari, and a matching pink raw silk or contrast deep maroon tissue blouse to keep the focus on the weave.

Caring for Your Handloom
A handloom saree is not just worn — it is preserved, rested, and cared for over time.
After wearing, allow the saree to settle gently. Dry clean only, so the weave, colour, and zari remain protected. When storing, wrap it in a soft muslin cloth and keep it in a dry place. Zari is delicate and responds to changes in weather; the muslin helps the textile breathe while keeping the weave stable.
Avoid spraying perfume directly onto the saree, as fragrance and alcohol can affect the fabric and zari. Every few months, open it out and let it air naturally for a while — a small ritual that allows the weave to breathe and helps the saree stay beautiful for years.
