A Katan silk Banarasi saree in powder pink, with meenakari motifs enamelled in coloured silk alongside zari on a Tanchoi satin ground. The Adda layout sets the motifs in their measured rows across the body, and the border frames the drape. The motifs, anchal and border are all woven in zari — and laid in beside the coloured meena so the figures glow against the powder-pink field. Handwoven in Varanasi on a traditional pit loom.
What sets Meenadar apart is the coloured silk laid into the motifs alongside the zari — a second voice in the weave that lets each figure carry its own palette. The discipline of building those colours into the body of the cloth, motif by motif, is among the most prized Banarasi traditions.
Styling Note
Drape Nivi-style with the anchal soft over the shoulder. Pair with kundan or polki — coloured stones answer the meena work. A blouse in dusty rose, blush or ivory raw silk keeps the palette gentle.

Caring for Your Handloom
A handloom saree is not just worn — it is preserved, rested, and cared for over time.
After wearing, allow the saree to settle gently. Dry clean only, so the weave, colour, and zari remain protected. When storing, wrap it in a soft muslin cloth and keep it in a dry place. Zari is delicate and responds to changes in weather; the muslin helps the textile breathe while keeping the weave stable.
Avoid spraying perfume directly onto the saree, as fragrance and alcohol can affect the fabric and zari. Every few months, open it out and let it air naturally for a while — a small ritual that allows the weave to breathe and helps the saree stay beautiful for years.
