A handwoven Banarsi silk saree in soft sage green, covered in an all-over floral jaal of blossoms and leafy vines worked in gold and silver zari with delicate multicoloured meenakari.
Pink, violet, ochre and rust meena accents bring the woven flowers to life across the muted green ground, while a zari border and richly patterned anchal frame the drape. A luminous, intricate weave.
Styling Note
A fluid Katan that takes a Nivi drape beautifully, with the pallu left long so the larger blooms read in full. Rose gold, uncut polki or fine kundan flatters the dusty tone, and chand bali earrings echo the roundness of the flowers. A deep rose or antique-gold silk blouse keeps the palette tonal, while an ivory raw-silk blouse lifts it.
Caring for Your Handloom
A handloom saree is not just worn — it is preserved, rested, and cared for over time.
After wearing, allow the saree to settle gently. Dry clean only, so the weave, colour, and zari remain protected. When storing, wrap it in a soft muslin cloth and keep it in a dry place. Zari is delicate and responds to changes in weather; the muslin helps the textile breathe while keeping the weave stable.
Avoid spraying perfume directly onto the saree, as fragrance and alcohol can affect the fabric and zari. Every few months, open it out and let it air naturally for a while — a small ritual that allows the weave to breathe and helps the saree stay beautiful for years.
