A handwoven Banarsi silk saree in rose pink, drawn over with diagonal floral creepers that run corner to corner across the body in gold and silver zari. The two-tone bel creates a soft, leheriya-like rhythm over the pink ground.
A zari border edges both selvedges, with the diagonal jaal continuing into the pallu. The density of the woven creeper gives this piece its weight and its glow.
Styling Note
Drape in Nivi with narrow pleats to keep the garlands running unbroken; a Bengali drape softens the piece further. Pearls and silver are effortless with the lavender; polki adds a warmer sparkle. Blouse in silver-grey or the same lavender for a tonal look, or a deep aubergine to give the pale ground an anchor.
Caring for Your Handloom
A handloom saree is not just worn — it is preserved, rested, and cared for over time.
After wearing, allow the saree to settle gently. Dry clean only, so the weave, colour, and zari remain protected. When storing, wrap it in a soft muslin cloth and keep it in a dry place. Zari is delicate and responds to changes in weather; the muslin helps the textile breathe while keeping the weave stable.
Avoid spraying perfume directly onto the saree, as fragrance and alcohol can affect the fabric and zari. Every few months, open it out and let it air naturally for a while — a small ritual that allows the weave to breathe and helps the saree stay beautiful for years.
