A handwoven Banarasi Katan silk saree in tissue beige, the field carrying a continuous Phool Jangla — scrolling vines and flowers running across the drape in unbroken zari work. The motifs, anchal and border are all woven in zari, the jangla following the body like vine and bloom and meeting an intricate Banarasi border along every edge. Handwoven in Varanasi on a traditional pit loom.
A Phool Jangla is one of the more demanding Banarasi layouts — the vines must connect across the loom in a continuous flow with no breaks, and the flowers must register cleanly along the way. The weaver builds the entire jaal thread by thread, which is why a jangla saree of this density takes weeks at the loom and reads as a single composition.
Styling Note
Drape in a Nivi style to let the jangla run uninterrupted down the body, or in a Bengali drape to bring the anchal forward over both shoulders. Pair with antique-gold or polki — temple jhumkas with a slim haar, or a chand-bali. A tonal beige or contrasting maroon raw-silk blouse both work.

Caring for Your Handloom
A handloom saree is not just worn — it is preserved, rested, and cared for over time.
After wearing, allow the saree to settle gently. Dry clean only, so the weave, colour, and zari remain protected. When storing, wrap it in a soft muslin cloth and keep it in a dry place. Zari is delicate and responds to changes in weather; the muslin helps the textile breathe while keeping the weave stable.
Avoid spraying perfume directly onto the saree, as fragrance and alcohol can affect the fabric and zari. Every few months, open it out and let it air naturally for a while — a small ritual that allows the weave to breathe and helps the saree stay beautiful for years.
