A handwoven Banarasi pure Katan silk dupatta in pistachio green adda, the field carrying a continuous Jangla — scrolling vines and florals woven into the cloth in unbroken zari work. The motifs, anchal and border are all woven in zari, the jangla running across the body and meeting a steady Banarasi border along every edge. Handwoven in Varanasi on a traditional pit loom.

Pistachio green is a quiet ground for a jangla — the zari floral reads with more glow against the soft colour, and the discipline of the weave shows up cleanly. Each vine is built thread by thread, with the flowers registering exactly where the loom card asks them to. The cloth is finished when it leaves the loom; nothing is added on after.

Styling Note

Drape over a tonal kurta, an ivory lehenga, or a deep wine sharara. Pinned at one shoulder, the jangla reads down the front of the body. Pair with kundan or antique-gold — jhumkas with a slim choker, or a chand-bali.

Caring for Your Handloom

A handloom dupatta is not just worn — it is preserved, rested, and cared for over time.

After wearing, allow the dupatta to settle gently. Dry clean only, so the weave, colour, and zari remain protected. When storing, wrap it in a soft muslin cloth and keep it in a dry place. Zari is delicate and responds to changes in weather; the muslin helps the textile breathe while keeping the weave stable.

Avoid spraying perfume directly onto the dupatta, as fragrance and alcohol can affect the fabric and zari. Every few months, open it out and let it air naturally for a while — a small ritual that allows the weave to breathe and helps the dupatta stay beautiful for years.
