A handwoven Banarasi Katan silk saree in a multicolour Rangkaat composition, drawn over with scrolling vines and florals in continuous Jangla layout. The motifs, anchal and border are all woven in zari — the Rangkaat warp shifts colour across the cloth, and the jaal travels unbroken from selvedge to selvedge. Handwoven in Varanasi on a traditional pit loom.
Rangkaat is among the most ambitious Banarasi techniques on the loom — multiple ground colours are joined warp-to-warp within a single drape, with the join held by interlocked weft so no seam shows. Combined with a Kadhua Jangla, every flower is built thread by thread across colour shifts that the weaver has to plan in advance. Months of loom time, and no two Rangkaat pieces emerge identical.
Styling Note
Drapes beautifully Nivi or Lehenga-style; the long unbroken Jangla rewards a clean front pleat. Pair with polki or kundan and a tonal raw-silk blouse drawn from one of the body colours.

Caring for Your Handloom
A handloom saree is not just worn — it is preserved, rested, and cared for over time.
After wearing, allow the saree to settle gently. Dry clean only, so the weave, colour, and zari remain protected. When storing, wrap it in a soft muslin cloth and keep it in a dry place. Zari is delicate and responds to changes in weather; the muslin helps the textile breathe while keeping the weave stable.
Avoid spraying perfume directly onto the saree, as fragrance and alcohol can affect the fabric and zari. Every few months, open it out and let it air naturally for a while — a small ritual that allows the weave to breathe and helps the saree stay beautiful for years.
