A multicolor Banarasi saree in pure Katan silk, woven in Rangkaat — distinct colour zones built into the body of the drape by cutting and rejoining the warp. A continuous Jangla of scrolling vines and florals plays across the colour fields. The motifs, anchal and border are all woven in zari. Handwoven in Varanasi on a traditional pit loom.
Rangkaat is the most ambitious of the Banarasi techniques — the warp is cut and rejoined in the colours of the next zone, so each colour change in the body is a discrete moment of loom work. That is why a Rangkaat piece reads almost like a tapestry: every colour boundary is a hand decision.
Styling Note
Drape Nivi for the cleanest reveal of the colour zones, or open-pallu for a fuller view of the jaal. Pair with kundan, polki or temple jewellery; multicolour grounds take warm gold most comfortably. A rust, mustard or wine raw silk blouse picks up one of the zones.

Caring for Your Handloom
A handloom saree is not just worn — it is preserved, rested, and cared for over time.
After wearing, allow the saree to settle gently. Dry clean only, so the weave, colour, and zari remain protected. When storing, wrap it in a soft muslin cloth and keep it in a dry place. Zari is delicate and responds to changes in weather; the muslin helps the textile breathe while keeping the weave stable.
Avoid spraying perfume directly onto the saree, as fragrance and alcohol can affect the fabric and zari. Every few months, open it out and let it air naturally for a while — a small ritual that allows the weave to breathe and helps the saree stay beautiful for years.
