A handwoven Banarasi Katan silk saree in deep purple, drawn over with a Meenadar Jangla — scrolling vines and florals enamelled in coloured silk alongside the gold zari, carried unbroken across the body. The motifs, anchal and border are all woven in zari — the jaal opens at the pallu into a fuller arrangement of bloom. Handwoven in Varanasi on a traditional pit loom.
A Jangla in Meenadar layers two demanding Banarasi disciplines on a single loom: Kadhua, where every motif is built into the cloth thread by thread, and Meenadar, where coloured silk is laid in alongside the zari to enamel each motif. Together they are among the slowest weaves the loom carries — every metre is paid for in patience, every colour shift planned at the warp.
Styling Note
Drapes beautifully Nivi-style with the pallu fanned wide so the meena work catches the light. Pair with kundan or polki — coloured stones answer the meenakari beautifully — and an aubergine or ivory raw-silk blouse.

Caring for Your Handloom
A handloom saree is not just worn — it is preserved, rested, and cared for over time.
After wearing, allow the saree to settle gently. Dry clean only, so the weave, colour, and zari remain protected. When storing, wrap it in a soft muslin cloth and keep it in a dry place. Zari is delicate and responds to changes in weather; the muslin helps the textile breathe while keeping the weave stable.
Avoid spraying perfume directly onto the saree, as fragrance and alcohol can affect the fabric and zari. Every few months, open it out and let it air naturally for a while — a small ritual that allows the weave to breathe and helps the saree stay beautiful for years.
