A soft peach-pink Banarasi georgette saree in Tanchoi — densely packed motifs carried by warp and weft alone, the georgette ground falling lightly through the drape. The motifs, anchal and border are all woven in zari. Handwoven in Varanasi on a traditional pit loom.
Tanchoi is a satin-faced Banarasi technique with no extra weft floats; the motif is held entirely by warp and weft, so the back of a true Tanchoi reads almost as cleanly as the front. The density of detail demands a slower loom and a steadier hand, and the satin ground is what gives the textile its quiet, low-shine luxury.
Styling Note
This saree drapes beautifully in the Nivi style, the weighted anchal falling cleanly to lead the eye. Pair with polki or pearl jewellery — the zari work reads best against warm metal tones. A peach pink or ivory raw silk blouse keeps the focus on the weave; a contrast blouse in a deeper tone of the border colour works equally well.

Caring for Your Handloom
A handloom saree is not just worn — it is preserved, rested, and cared for over time.
After wearing, allow the saree to settle gently. Dry clean only, so the weave, colour, and zari remain protected. When storing, wrap it in a soft muslin cloth and keep it in a dry place. Zari is delicate and responds to changes in weather; the muslin helps the textile breathe while keeping the weave stable.
Avoid spraying perfume directly onto the saree, as fragrance and alcohol can affect the fabric and zari. Every few months, open it out and let it air naturally for a while — a small ritual that allows the weave to breathe and helps the saree stay beautiful for years.
