A soft lilac Banarsi silk saree scattered with small bird buti woven alternately in gold and silver zari, so the motifs catch the light in two tones across the body. The silk has a smooth, lustrous surface that shifts between pink and mauve as it drapes.
The border is a narrow band of zari — a flowering vine framed by fine patterned lines — running along both edges, with a deeper pink selvedge. The pallu opens into denser zari ornamentation with striped detailing that anchors the drape.
Styling Note
A Nivi drape carries this composition best — the pallu placed long over the shoulder so the border reads in full down the front. Pair with antique gold or kundan jewellery to echo the zari, and a matching salmon raw silk or contrast antique-gold tissue blouse to keep the focus on the weave.
Caring for Your Handloom
A handloom saree is not just worn — it is preserved, rested, and cared for over time.
After wearing, allow the saree to settle gently. Dry clean only, so the weave, colour, and zari remain protected. When storing, wrap it in a soft muslin cloth and keep it in a dry place. Zari is delicate and responds to changes in weather; the muslin helps the textile breathe while keeping the weave stable.
Avoid spraying perfume directly onto the saree, as fragrance and alcohol can affect the fabric and zari. Every few months, open it out and let it air naturally for a while — a small ritual that allows the weave to breathe and helps the saree stay beautiful for years.
