A pista green Banarsi silk saree covered edge to edge in a flowing jangla — trailing vines of zari leaves and open blooms, the flowers picked out in meenakari shades of rose, mustard, lilac and coral so the whole field reads like a spring garden on soft green.
The border is a broad band of pale gold zari in a fine geometric weave, and the anchal continues the jangla over a lighter, almost tissue-like ground with a zari-striped end.
The pastel palette keeps the saree gentle despite the density of the work — it is rich without being heavy.
Styling Note
Wear in a Nivi drape so the jangla shows uninterrupted across the body and pallu. Pearls or polki in a pale gold setting suit the pastel palette; choose a blouse in the same pista green, or in old rose to echo the meenakari flowers.
Caring for Your Handloom
A handloom saree is not just worn — it is preserved, rested, and cared for over time.
After wearing, allow the saree to settle gently. Dry clean only, so the weave, colour, and zari remain protected. When storing, wrap it in a soft muslin cloth and keep it in a dry place. Zari is delicate and responds to changes in weather; the muslin helps the textile breathe while keeping the weave stable.
Avoid spraying perfume directly onto the saree, as fragrance and alcohol can affect the fabric and zari. Every few months, open it out and let it air naturally for a while — a small ritual that allows the weave to breathe and helps the saree stay beautiful for years.
