A rani pink Banarsi silk saree with a deep, saturated glow, its body scattered with rows of gold zari floral butas — each a small bouquet of blooms and leaves, spaced evenly so the pink ground stays open and luminous between them.
The border runs a continuous rose creeper in zari, edged with a fine leaf-tip trim and a slim magenta selvedge. The anchal gathers the same floral work into a denser zari field, so the pallu reads richer than the body when draped.
The silk has a smooth, close weave with a soft fall — the kind that pleats crisply and holds its shape through a long evening.
Styling Note
Drape in a classic Nivi with the pallu pleated to show the zari border down the full length. Pair with gold jhumkas or a kundan choker; a cream-gold or deep magenta blouse both work well against the pink.
Caring for Your Handloom
A handloom saree is not just worn — it is preserved, rested, and cared for over time.
After wearing, allow the saree to settle gently. Dry clean only, so the weave, colour, and zari remain protected. When storing, wrap it in a soft muslin cloth and keep it in a dry place. Zari is delicate and responds to changes in weather; the muslin helps the textile breathe while keeping the weave stable.
Avoid spraying perfume directly onto the saree, as fragrance and alcohol can affect the fabric and zari. Every few months, open it out and let it air naturally for a while — a small ritual that allows the weave to breathe and helps the saree stay beautiful for years.
