A green Banarasi saree in pure Katan silk, drawn over with a continuous Chinar Jangla — leaves of the Chinar tree scrolling across the body in an unbroken vine. The motifs, anchal and border are all woven in zari — the border running steady at both edges and the anchal carrying the Chinar in a fuller, closer arrangement. Handwoven in Varanasi on a traditional pit loom.
Chinar in Jangla is one of the more poetic Banarasi compositions — the leaves of the Kashmiri Chinar tree carried across a continuous interconnected vine. Done in Kadhua, every leaf is built into the cloth thread-by-thread, the back of the saree carries no floats, and the placement must hold across every selvedge and join. That is loom discipline at its slowest, and most rewarding.
Styling Note
A Nivi drape sits best on a Jangla — the long unbroken field is what the layout wants. Pair with antique-gold or polki jewellery and an oxblood, ivory or deep-emerald raw-silk blouse.

Caring for Your Handloom
A handloom saree is not just worn — it is preserved, rested, and cared for over time.
After wearing, allow the saree to settle gently. Dry clean only, so the weave, colour, and zari remain protected. When storing, wrap it in a soft muslin cloth and keep it in a dry place. Zari is delicate and responds to changes in weather; the muslin helps the textile breathe while keeping the weave stable.
Avoid spraying perfume directly onto the saree, as fragrance and alcohol can affect the fabric and zari. Every few months, open it out and let it air naturally for a while — a small ritual that allows the weave to breathe and helps the saree stay beautiful for years.
