Navy Blue Kadhua Pure Silk Handloom Banarasi Fabric Thaan
A handwoven Banarasi Katan silk thaan in navy blue, the running length carrying thread-by-thread Kadhua motifs evenly placed across the cloth. The motifs, anchal and border are all woven in zari — the placement is consistent metre by metre so the fabric can be cut and tailored without losing its rhythm. Handwoven in Varanasi on a traditional pit loom.
A Kadhua thaan asks for the same loom hours as a saree, only released as a running length. Every butti is built into the cloth on its own little weft, never floated across the back, which is why a tailored garment cut from Banarasi by the metre still reads as the same disciplined textile as a six-metre drape.
Styling Note
Tailor as a structured blouse, a kurta panel, a sherwani body or a panelled lehenga — navy reads beautifully against ivory, antique gold and oxblood. Style the finished garment with antique gold or kundan jewellery to keep the focus on the weave.

Caring for Your Handloom
A handloom fabric is not just worn — it is preserved, rested, and cared for over time.
After wearing, allow the fabric to settle gently. Dry clean only, so the weave, colour, and zari remain protected. When storing, wrap it in a soft muslin cloth and keep it in a dry place. Zari is delicate and responds to changes in weather; the muslin helps the textile breathe while keeping the weave stable.
Avoid spraying perfume directly onto the fabric, as fragrance and alcohol can affect the fabric and zari. Every few months, open it out and let it air naturally for a while — a small ritual that allows the weave to breathe and helps the fabric stay beautiful for years.
