Peach Butterfly Motif Pure Silk Handloom Banarasi Fabric
A Banarasi fabric thaan in peach, carrying butterfly motifs drawn over the field thread by thread in Katan silk. The motifs, anchal and border are all woven in zari — here the zari sets the wings and outlines of each butterfly across the cloth. Handwoven in Varanasi on a traditional pit loom.
Kadhua is one of the most painstaking Banarasi techniques: every butti is woven into the ground with its own weft, never embroidered after. A length of Kadhua fabric is therefore a record of weeks spent at the loom, and the discipline carries through whether the piece becomes a saree, a kurta, or a length of yardage.
Styling Note
Tailor the fabric into a structured kurta, a fitted jacket or panelled into a lehenga — the Katan ground holds form under stitching. Line with a soft mulmul cotton so the silk sits cleanly on the body. Pair the finished piece with antique-gold or polki for warmth against the peach.

Caring for Your Handloom
A handloom fabric is not just worn — it is preserved, rested, and cared for over time.
After wearing, allow the fabric to settle gently. Dry clean only, so the weave, colour, and zari remain protected. When storing, wrap it in a soft muslin cloth and keep it in a dry place. Zari is delicate and responds to changes in weather; the muslin helps the textile breathe while keeping the weave stable.
Avoid spraying perfume directly onto the fabric, as fragrance and alcohol can affect the fabric and zari. Every few months, open it out and let it air naturally for a while — a small ritual that allows the weave to breathe and helps the fabric stay beautiful for years.
