White Floral Motif Silk By Cotton Handloom Fabric Thaan
A handwoven Banarasi silk-by-cotton thaan in white, the running length carrying thread-by-thread Kadhua floral motifs evenly across the cloth. The motifs, anchal and border are all woven in zari — the floral placement is consistent metre by metre, the fabric ready for the tailor's commission. Handwoven in Varanasi on a traditional pit loom.
The silk-by-cotton blend gives the thaan a softer hand without giving up the loom discipline — every floral motif is lifted on its own weft in Kadhua, never embroidered on later. The luxury is in that precision: a tailor cutting from this length will find the same Banarasi rigour as in a finished saree of the same weave.
Styling Note
Tailor as a structured kurta, a panelled lehenga, a sherwani panel or a fitted jacket — the silk-by-cotton blend takes a clean line and breathes more easily than pure Katan. Style finished pieces with antique-gold, polki or kundan jewellery.

Caring for Your Handloom
A handloom fabric is not just worn — it is preserved, rested, and cared for over time.
After wearing, allow the fabric to settle gently. Dry clean only, so the weave, colour, and zari remain protected. When storing, wrap it in a soft muslin cloth and keep it in a dry place. Zari is delicate and responds to changes in weather; the muslin helps the textile breathe while keeping the weave stable.
Avoid spraying perfume directly onto the fabric, as fragrance and alcohol can affect the fabric and zari. Every few months, open it out and let it air naturally for a while — a small ritual that allows the weave to breathe and helps the fabric stay beautiful for years.
