A handwoven Banarasi saree in soft white, drawn over with thread-by-thread Kadhua motifs that fall across the body in measured, even rhythm. The motifs, anchal and border are all woven in zari — the Banarasi border frames the drape on every edge and the aanchal carries an anchor motif to close the composition. Handwoven in Varanasi on a traditional pit loom.
Kadhua is the discipline of patience: every butti is built into the weave thread by thread, never embroidered on after, and every motif carries its own weft. A piece of this kind takes weeks on the loom because the weaver cannot hurry the placement — and that is precisely why no two Kadhua pieces emerge from the loom identical.
Styling Note
Drapes beautifully in a classic Nivi style. Pair with gold or polki jewellery and a blush-pink or ivory raw-silk blouse to keep the focus on the zari work.

Caring for Your Handloom
A handloom saree is not just worn — it is preserved, rested, and cared for over time.
After wearing, allow the saree to settle gently. Dry clean only, so the weave, colour, and zari remain protected. When storing, wrap it in a soft muslin cloth and keep it in a dry place. Zari is delicate and responds to changes in weather; the muslin helps the textile breathe while keeping the weave stable.
Avoid spraying perfume directly onto the saree, as fragrance and alcohol can affect the fabric and zari. Every few months, open it out and let it air naturally for a while — a small ritual that allows the weave to breathe and helps the saree stay beautiful for years.
